I have been instructing Defensive Handgun training for over 40 years!  I have always been an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution all my life. Private ownership of firearms, guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment, insures that law-abiding Americans will be a free people from the tyranny of government. It is the reason that the right to own and bear arms is the "2nd" Amendment enshrined in our Bill of Rights - it protects the other rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. As Jefferson said, "When the government fears the people, there is freedom. When the people fear the government, there is slavery!" 

We are again at a point in our American ethos where we have a tyrannical government bent on obtaining as much power and control as possible. If the government had its way, ALL firearms would be immediately confiscated from law-abiding Americans as they were during the Katrina hurricane in New Orleans. Law-abiding Americans were forced to relinquish their guns they were using to protect their property from looters. As expected, once they were disarmed, the looters moved in as the home owners were moved out. Litigation afterwards decided that the New Orleans authorities were in violation of the 2nd Amendment, and the court ordered all guns to be returned to law-abiding citizens. But, the confiscated guns had already been destroyed by the NOPD and the citizens were not compensated for their loss.

It is vital that law-abiding Americans exercise their 2nd Amendment right to own a firearm!  Rights not exercised ultimately are withdrawn by the government!  If we lose the 2nd Amendment, Americans will become "subjects" and no longer citizens!
